Amiwest 2014 - Sunday

Image
To kick off, last night (Saturday) was the banquet.

At the banquet, Andy Broad (broadblues) was one of two guest speakers - Andy is a talented musician who played some of his music as part of his speech.

He also talked about how the Amiga has continually helped in his musical pursuits in many different ways.
In a surprise, former boss of Commodore UK, Colin Proudfoot was also present to give a very interesting speech about the last days of Commodore and what was happening behind the scenes - very interesting!

SACC awards were presented to club members and sponsors too.

It was an interesting evening!
Moving onto Sunday now, and the show was quickly back in full swing, starting with the swap meet and then the show start at 10am!

Eldee (Eliyahu) did a presentation on the new features in AmigaOS4.1 final edition.

Some of the features like better graphics performance, new tabbed shell, thumbnail photo icon view, mouse over info on icons were very interesting!

Amiwest 2014 - Saturday

Image
It is a busy day here at Amiwest 2014!

So many Amigas and plenty of interest in the systems I brought along, as well as some interesting announcements from Trevor and Steve Solie.

The announcement of AmigaOS 4.1 Final to be released by the end of this year as a paid upgrade.
Trevor introduced Amistore, radiance and showed the x5000 running Linux and AmigaOS4.1 - as always with the boing ball shoes and tie!

Talking about the Radiance suite:

Amistore video presentation:

The new Sam460cr model was mentioned today.

The acquisition of AmigaWorld.net by A-Eon was also mentioned, meaning that both amiga.org and amigaworld.net are both now owned by A-Eon.
The first commercial xorro expansion for the x1000 was also mentioned, due to go on sale in early 2015 a serial logger:

AmiWest 2014 - Friday night Classic Clinic and X5000 Cyrus running

Image
On Friday evening the AmiWest 2014 show kicked off with the Classic Clinic, where people could get their Classic Amiga equipment repaired.

At the same time the X5000 system running AmigaOS4.1 (showed in my earlier post) was fired up and shown in public for the first time!

Here Matthew from AmigaKit is getting things up and running, showing the boot sequence and updated u-Boot menu:

The new Early boot menu is done in the Workbench 3.1 style:

The System Info option shows the detailed information about the X5000 system:

Interesting is the option to Start AmigaOS or to Start Classic AmigaOS. I asked Matthew what the Classic AmigaOS option did but was told it was a interesting surprise - I guess we will hear more about this:

Here, Steve Solie and Matthew are discussing all things X5000:
